The idea for this card came from some hair accessories I’d seen floating around on Pinterest. They looked quite straight forward so I thought I’d give one a go. I’ve attached it to a card, from which it can then be removed and used. A card and gift all in one – perfect if you want to save on postage.
The flower was super simple to make. I used grosgrain ribbon in two different shades of purple, cut small strips, looped them over and then used hot glue to hold in place. I added a coiled rose to the centre and then some strips of green for added zing. I used pinking shears on the ends of the green pieces, I really like the effect and grosgrain is so sturdy it can take it! Once assembled I attached the flower to a hairclip. I dithered between this and using a brooch.
I used a small foam pad to attach the flower to some layers of yellow and purple. This should make it nice and easy to remove the clip from the card when the time comes. The sentiment is stamped using the Stampin’ Up! Itty Bitty Banners set. To finish, I stamped a trio of tiny bees. I am sharing this over at Really Reasonable Ribbon for challenge #68 which is flowers and ribbon. Can’t wait to make a Christmas version using some of their fabulous patterned ribbons – and maybe a Halloween version too. Ooh and what about a daisy version or a sunflower?
The good news for me is that I have now have a nice long break for the day job, which I feel I need more than ever, and, hopefully, a visit from the Easter Bunny.
